5 Simple Strategies for Building Greater Wealth, Prosperity and Abundance

It’s on most of our minds with all the media’s buzz about debt, doom and disaster. So it’s time to take matters into your own hands, cleaning up your own money mindset and doing your part to create your very own abundance oasis. Regardless of what’s energetically going on around you, there’s no better way to begin to turn any financial frenzy around than with good ol’ Feng Shui.

So, try out these 5 time-tested tips and start opening yourself to the wealth of abundance the Universe…and your home…have to give.

1. Streamline Your Space

Disorganization is one of the leading contributors for environmental stress — the last thing we need if designing your space for success. Think of any CEO or business billionaire and you’ll never see them surrounded by chaotic clutter. Their minds are focused, their actions are precise, and their spaces are orderly.

This week start to mirror the actions of those you admire most with these simple suggestions:

• Start every day with cleared-off desk, wiping it free of paperwork, dust, and all other objects that keep you from focus and clarity.

Insider’s Secret: Ever since shifting my desk to one with only one gorgeous, calming orchid and my laptop, my productivity has skyrocketed…

• Clean out your filing cabinets, closets, and drawers, tossing the old, making space for the new — compartmentalizing and categorizing everything with labels, boxes, and beautiful containers.

• Restructure your paperwork so it no longer clogs up your creativity, establishing the most logical placement and easy-to-use processes for things like your in-box, mail station, daily to-do lists, recycling containers and waste baskets.

2.  Attract Abundance with Art

Manifesting begins whenever we feel strong emotions, so what better way to trigger some fabulous feelings than through beauty, artwork and imagery.

Imagine the life you long for, things you’d most like to accomplish, or the way in which you’d like to live. Then head out to find objects that evoke the strongest positive emotions possible and that also reflect the beauty, abundance, opulence and wealth you wish to experience.

Perhaps it’s a photo of someone you admire, a breathtaking painting, or an expensive item you already own. Whatever it might be, the more objects in your home that makes your heart soar, the more quickly your goals will be drawn to you like a magnet.

Consider these types of additions:

• Images of triumph, achievement, success, passion or power

• Images of objects you would love to own, people you most admire, or places you wish to visit.

• A vision board reflecting your life as you wish it to be 5 years from now.

Insider’s Secret: In my office, I sit facing my vision board. It’s out of site for incoming guests and clients, yet empowering for me as I work.

3. Manage Your Money Mojo

The way you treat money says everything about how you attract it. Take time this week to watch your spending habits and bill-paying practices. Try these simple suggestions to transform your relationship with your money magic:

• Spend in style: Whether it’s upgrading to a new wallet that makes you feel like a million bucks, signing your checks with an executive pen, or finding a beautiful box to stash your cash — make every little detail luxurious.

• Organize your expenses like a well-oiled Fortune-500 company so you are no longer baffled at balancing the checkbook or terrified to do the taxes. Pay bills the minute they come in, and start using a financial program like Quicken to categorize and streamline every step, making money management an absolute delight.

Insider’s Secret: By doing this, I’m now able to tally my expenses at any give moment, and my tax time prep takes me only 30 minutes each year.

• Get a feel for your financial flow by paying for everything in cash. If you’re feeling out of touch with your own money, or tend to overspend easily, then cutting up your credit cards can bring you back into tactile, connected relationship with your beautiful, well-earned cash.

4. Strut Your Stuff

Whenever we prominently display things like degrees, diplomas, awards, certificates, projects, trophies or ribbons, it not only radiates pride, but also inner confidence. So think back to those things that bring you the biggest sense of achievement, and hang them where you’re most likely to see them.

A few display strategies:

• Place images of deities, spiritual guides or teachers in places where you can delight in their soul-soothing effects the most, like across from a desk, near your favorite easy chair, or beside the dining room table.

• Paste your adorable lil’ head onto another photo or online image representing your dream scenario so you can most easily envision and feel your dreams coming true: see yourself autographing that best-selling book; becoming a guest on Oprah; winning a local quilting contest; or finishing a marathon.

• Frame your favorite spiritual reminders, quotes or sayings so you can be inspired and reminded every day — on your desk, in the bathroom, or near you’re front door so you see it first thing every morning as you head for work.

Insider’s Secret: I keep the books and products I’ve created prominently displayed in my workspace since they are currently the most inspiring items to me, and reflect my future career and financial goals.

5. If It’s Broke, Fix It

This may sound obvious, but “Broke = Bummer”. Busted, worn-out, mismatched items or random “stuff” with missing pieces and parts generate unconscious stress and mental distraction, as well as an excuse to avoid pursing greater goals.

This week it’s time to toss out whatever is getting in your way of greater abundance, so look out for any of these self-sabotaging behaviors and beliefs that may be wrecking your wealth or dragging down your dreams:

• Holding onto things because of poverty-consciousness: afraid to toss an item because of the belief that you won’t be able to afford a replacement in the future, or the belief that the Universe isn’t abundant enough to support your needs.

• Holding onto things because of guilt: keeping an object out of fear that letting it go could create pain in another person; a sense of codependency; and overall feeling of responsibility for others emotions and reactions.

•  Holding onto things because of inaction or resistance: a place of stagnancy without movement; or the belief that it will take too darn long to tackle a task. (Gentle reminder: nothing wastes more precious life moments than having a home full of objects that symbolize stagnation, distraction, worry, stress or guilt.)

Insider’s Secret: I keep a box somewhere convenient, yet out of site, and use this to store all of my broken or unsorted objects, making it a habit to visit the box regularly to continue working on repairs.

So now that you’ve clear on this week’s five success strategies, it’s time to get to work and take action.

Action is the key to making all success stick, so this week print out the 5 tips above and check them off as you tackle each task, making notes in the margins on key insights or added ideas you’d like to toss into the Feng Shui mix. Be creative, be expressive and be bold!

Ah, don’t you just love the weather this time of year?  Almost every area is starting to get bursts of that unstoppable summer energy…

5 Sure-Fire Stress-Busting Strategies

Good ol’ stress.

We’re likely in perfect agreement that life is not getting easier, and our options can be overwhelming. When all of life’s delights and demands pull us in ten directions at once, finding peace of mind is like finding a pin in a haystack. It’s at those times we need to tame those tensions and set stress to rest. But when life hits us in the face with a pie full of overload, what’s an overwhelmed girl to do?

1. PLAN AHEAD

So much of our modern-day stresses come from having simply TOO much on our plates, creating a nationwide outbreaks of A.D.D. meltdowns. Making a plan, and checking it daily, can not only stop your mind from burning the midnight oil, but help you spend your time more wisely and avoid spinning your life’s wheels.

I use a 1-year, 1-month, 1-week and daily list of goals and/or tasks, following a simplified (yet similar) system outlined in the fabulous book by David Allen called Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity. Creating a sacred set time to review your greater goals monthly, weekly and daily can really keep your life’s boat sailing smoothly.

Tip: For instant relief and results, try scheduling your day the night BEFORE. Doing this every day can make a huge difference between stress and success!

2. DO THE TOUGH STUFF FIRST

As human beings, we’re programmed to avoid discomfort. That’s why most of our deepest, most important work in life goes unfulfilled. We find temporary comfort in tackling simple, non-threatening tasks, often as an artificial substitute for deeper accomplishment, meaning or purpose.

This week, try working in order of priority. Jot down those things that are truly the most important in order for you to live a full and fulfilled life. What spiritual, career, relationship, financial, travel and health dreams do you hold? Schedule time for these things before all else, and complete them first-thing each day (trust me, the smaller things will still get taken care of)!

The satisfaction you’ll receive from even one week of living from the top down can change your life forever. (For more a more detailed plan, refer to The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.)

3. SHAKE YOUR BOOTY

Shakin’ your thang can be one of the best healing and stress-reducing remedies around. Even for chronic fatigue, adrenal exhaustion and other tiring challenges, getting yourself moving in gentle yet refreshing ways can oxygenate your blood cells, shift vital hormone balances and release endorphins to both raise your energy and gain mental clarity.

If you’ve fallen out of the movin’ and groovin’ habit, try building in a 30-minute walk most days and report back on the amazing effects by week’s end.

4. CUT THE CLUTTER

When our home offices, work spaces, living rooms and bedrooms are filled with visual reminders of unfinished tasks, broken objects, unsorted papers, or a growing mound of dishes, our bodies react with stress.

Some are more sensitive to clutter than others. And some are simply so tuned-out than they’re no longer conscious to the effects of their surrounding space. So try an experiment this week by taking one area of your home or work, and simply clear off all flat surfaces and hide all the stress-inducing visuals (make sure not to hide them permanently – we don’t want that stuff to turn stagnant).

Track your clarity, optimism and productivity when starting your day with clean surfaces and spacious surroundings (and send your thank-you cards to the address below!).

5. ASK FOR (AND RECEIVE) SUPPORT

When we take an honest evaluation of how we spend our time, quite often we are taking on far more than we can manage (and still stay sane). Asking for support — physically, emotionally and spiritually — can keep things on an energetic even keel.

Starting your day with reflective or meditative time — time where you can call out to Source, God or simply your wiser inner self for inspiration, faith or miracles — can provide spiritual and “inner” support that will powerfully ripple throughout your entire life experience.

Creating a strong emotional support network of friends, family, mentors, teachers and coaches can buoy your spirits when life is otherwise too challenging to face alone.

And lastly, develop solid physical support systems. Taking note of all your routine tasks which could be delegated to someone else can help you create more fabulous free time — that necessary breathing space to blossom more deeply into the beautifully empowered woman that you are!

So with that, I launch you into your week… your life… with a plan, priorities in check, a strut to your step, a sparse space, and support out the wazoo. Here’s to seeing you stress-free and fancy-free in the days and weeks to come. Give these gifts to yourself — you deserve it!

One item that you use regularly, upgraded to reflect your abundant thinking, will give your spirit and senses a real treat!

8. FRESHEN UP WITH FLOWERS!

Flowers, with their glorious colors and even more delightful scents, can boost your abundance like nothing else! Walking into a home, a room or an office decorated with nature’s perfect bouquet allows you to share the same visual abundance as the rich and famous.

7. SEND KINDNESS IN A CARD!

They say that it is better to give than receive. And I couldn’t agree more! Waiting around for abundance, in all it’s forms, is usually a futile act. But kindness loves action! If you desire a life, heart and wallet full to the brim, start sharing the wealth of your love and generosity now, and send an overflow of optimism to someone who could use a boost. For the price of a stamp, you will truly make someone’s day.

6. CLEAN OFF THAT DESK!

Women in particular are far more sensitive to their physical environment, and we all know that a cluttered desk reflects a cluttered mind. So what better way to get your thinking and your energy focused and fabulous!? Start your day with a sparse and spare desktop, and let your creativity and abundance abound.

5. DARE TO DAYDREAM!

Take 10 minutes to imagine yourself as someone whom you admire. Fill your body with their magnificent energy and revel in their royalty. If you normally have trouble living in a powerful or passionate way, borrowing the good Chi of those you look up to can help you shift your perspective, and find a whole new set of possibilities.

4. WAKE UP AND WALK!

Getting outside for a 10 minute fresh-air break works wonders when you’re feeling foggy, frozen or frazzled. That’s right! However anticlimactic it may seem, one of the quickest, cheapest and easiest ways to shift your well-being is by starting your day off with something having already been finished and completed. Beginning your morning with a beautifully made bed, put together with loving care, helps you begin your day with a renewed sense of accomplishment and optimism.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

DO YOU NEED TO GO ON A “DOING-DIET”?

I’m currently on a “Doing-Diet”. You heard me… I’m refraining from… well… DOING just about anything!

I’m delighting in sleeping all day. Cooking new gourmet recipes. Watching endless sunsets. Sitting for hours at the beach. Meditating. Walking. Going to movies. Whatever feels the least like “doing” that I can find!

So, what’s inspired this new diet of mine? (and how can you get in on this fun too?). It’s simple: modern life is FAST! It’s complex, complicated, and sometimes just downright overwhelming. Years ago, life was simpler. We had less pulls for our attention, less options, less stimulation. We could breath easier, focus better and belly laugh a whole lot more. But now more and more of us are going into burn-out simply because we’re not allowing ourselves to NOT do anything… even for a few moments at a time.

Others of us “steal” time for ourselves. We zone out, watch TV, surf the internet or lose ourselves for hours on Facebook. But it simply never, ever quenches the thirst we have for that powerful still connection deep within.

I find so many people— friends, clients, strangers I meet — saying the same thing: “Life’s just too much sometimes!” But what do we do when we get this insight? How many of us truly take the break our bodies, minds and souls deeply need to get re-nourished, refreshed and recharged?

Very few, unfortunately.

This is why burn-out is at an all-time high and adrenal fatigue is becoming more common than ever (I know first-hand).

I invite you to explore your life, review your schedule and scan your to-do list to see if you too have unknowingly joined a “Doing-Derby” rat-race-to-the-finish — that Go-Go-Go-Go-Go-Getter attitude that leaves you with little time for quiet, stillness, gentleness, intimacy or an open heart.

I’m not saying this diet is easy! Trust me, I struggle daily with the desire to do, go, and gobble up life at my previous high-speed pace. But with gentle inner course-correcting, each one of us can find
moments, minutes, or perhaps even hours and days in our schedules to take some well-needed (and deserved) time out to reconnect with ourselves… our spirits.

So for this month, be gentle. Be loving. And try shifting your life’s car into 3rd gear for a while… Trust me, cruising downhill is far more fun than the usual modern-day uphill drive!
